LawGrader is an LTI 1.3 Advantage tool. That means one installation, done once by your LMS administrator, works across Canvas, Moodle, Brightspace, Blackboard, and Schoology. Google Classroom is not supported, because it has no LTI.
Once it is installed, LawGrader provides:
- Single sign-on. Users click LawGrader inside the LMS and are already signed in. There is no separate LawGrader password.
- Roster sync (Names and Role Provisioning). LawGrader learns the class roster from the LMS, so there is no manual student setup.
- Grade passback (Assignment and Grade Services). The grade posts to the LMS gradebook automatically when the instructor releases it.
- An assignment placement (Deep Linking). Students submit their paper directly into LawGrader from the LMS assignment.
This is a different path from connecting an account with a token (see Connecting your LMS). LTI is the one-install, works-everywhere option, and it is set up by an administrator.
For LMS administrators
Installing LawGrader requires administrator rights on your LMS. A regular teacher account cannot do it. There are two ways to register, depending on what your LMS supports.
Path A: Dynamic Registration (fastest)
If your LMS supports Dynamic Registration (Moodle and recent versions of Canvas do), you paste a single URL and confirm. The URL is:
https://lawgrader.ai/lti/register
- Moodle: Site administration > Plugins > Activity modules > External tool > Manage tools. Paste the URL, choose Add LTI Advantage, then activate the tool.
- Canvas: Admin > Developer Keys > + LTI Key > choose the Enter URL method, and paste the URL.
Path B: Manual configuration
If Dynamic Registration is not available, register the tool by hand using these three URLs:
- OIDC login / initiation URL: https://lawgrader.ai/lti/login
- Redirect / target link (launch) URL: https://lawgrader.ai/lti/launch
- Public keyset (JWKS) URL: https://lawgrader.ai/lti/jwks
Then send LawGrader support the platform's Issuer, Client ID, and Deployment ID so we can finish the registration on our side.
What permissions it asks for
The tool requests permission to:
- Read the course roster, so it can match submissions to students without manual setup.
- Create and update a gradebook column, so released grades can post back automatically.
For instructors
Once your administrator has installed LawGrader, using it in a course takes a few steps. If it is not available yet, ask your LMS administrator to install the LawGrader LTI tool.
1. In your course, add an External Tool activity and choose LawGrader. 2. Click Select content. LawGrader opens and asks which assignment students should submit to. Create a new one right there, or pick an existing one. 3. Save. Students now see the assignment in the LMS. 4. A student clicks it, lands in LawGrader already signed in, and uploads their paper. LawGrader grades it against your rubric. 5. When you release grades, the score posts to the LMS gradebook. 6. Students click the same link again to read their marked-up feedback.
Good to know
A few details so nothing reads as a surprise:
- LawGrader opens in a new window, not embedded inside the LMS page. This is deliberate, for security.
- LTI carries the sign-in and the grade number, not files. The marked-up report lives in LawGrader, and students reach it by clicking the assignment link again. The annotated PDF is not pushed into the LMS.
- Installation is an administrator task. A teacher cannot install the tool alone. If you are a teacher, what to ask your admin for is simply: "Please install the LawGrader LTI 1.3 tool," and point them to this page.
